Interview with a 3 year old

Greeting SITS friends! I'm so glad you're visiting me today and I'm super excited to have you over. Please grab your favorite beverage and a comfy chair as you read some of my mindless drivel. And don't forget to check out my front page. Last week's entries were pretty good, if you like cute boys and celebrity meeting stories. My claim to fame is my Monday Morning Eye Candy feature. It's not to be missed!

I'm stuck at home today, for the second day in a row, with 2 sick kids and myself being sick. So, I'm pulling out an entry that I did last week for you to enjoy.

My new friend Rhea over at Word Tangle, has done some adorable interviews with her kids. So, I'm borrowing the idea from her today and bring you "Interview with a 3 year old". Enjoy! My words are in blue and my 3 year old's words are in red. My 2 year old's words are in green.

Hi sweetie! What's your name?
Ashlyn.

How old are you?
Fwee. (That's three for those who don't speak 3 year old)

What's your favorite food?
Um, grapes.
Grapes? Oh, grapes are yummy!

Ashlyn, what's your favorite thing to do with friends?
Um, playing with friends.

Ok, well, what's your favorite thing to play with your friends?
Um, playing with grapes with my friends. They like to eat grapes.

Let me see. Let me see. (Little sister wants to watch the interview on my camera screen)
Ok Ailey, come here. (I try to pull her onto my lap)

Ashlyn, what do you want to be when you grow up?
I would like to be a ballerina, just like Angelina. (Angelina Ballerina is a very favorite show in this house)
Oh, that sounds good!

What's your favorite tv show?
Race cars.
Race cars? You're silly. (Lots of laughter from both of us. The only reason I can assume she said this is because we had watched the movie CARS yesterday. She loves Lightning McQueen)
That's me!
No sweetie, that's Ashlyn. (My 2 year old is watching her sister on the camera screen)

What's your favorite thing to do with family?
Playing with my daddy. Where's daddy?
Daddy is outside painting the shelves for your room.
Painting shelves?
Yes, we're going to put shelves up in your room for all of your animals to stay, so they won't be all over the floor like they are now.
Oh, I love shelves.
I know. Shelves are great!

What's something that makes you happy?
Playing with mommy! I love playing with you mommy.
Oh, I love you too sweetie.

If you had 3 wishes, what would you wish for?
Um, Uniqua.
You would wish for Uniqua?
Yes! (Big grin on her face)
Is she one of the Backyardigans?
Yes.

What else would you wish for?
Um, my cup.
Your cup?
Yeah! This one here. (She points to the sippy cup of milk sitting next to me)
Oh, ok.

And, what's the other thing you would wish for?
Um, flowers.
Flowers? (Meanwhile, my unruly 2 year old walks over and hits her sister)
Oh, Ailey, we do not hit people!

Ok, Ashlyn, are you tired of answering questions?
Yes.
Can you say bye?
Bye bye! (She says with a huge grin and a sugary sweet southern drawl. Adorable.)

I tried to do this interview with my 10 year old...she was entirely uncooperative...until she went over to Rhea's blog and read what Donny and Remy answered. Now she is constantly bugging me to interview her again. I think she just wants to talk about farting. I'm not gonna fall for it!

I love how your two year old was convinced that was her on the screen. My youngest still insists that most pictures of her sister are actually of her. Whatever works.

Rhea: I just hope my interview lived up to the ultra-cool ones that you did! Thanks for the inspiration!

Kat: It took several attempts to get Ashlyn to cooperate, so I'm holding out hope for you!

3 year old are so funny...and so jekyll and hyde-ish. We have 2 of them in our home. Let's just say that i may now have to do an interview of sorts myself.

So cute! Aren't you glad that grapes are a favorite food? And how their wishes (most of them) are so attainable?

Awwww! I just love getting inside a three year old's head. My son is the same age and his little comments never cease to amaze me.

A good thing to get this written down because before you know it, you'll scarcely remember your children ever being that small.

My son turned 18 (18!!!!) this year and my daughter 15 (15????)... I used to write down all my favorite little quotes they came up with and have them stashed away in a box on my dresser. If I had to rely on my sad memory I'd never be able to recall the day my daughter said, "I have two callapidders (caterpillars), ones name is nekkid (naked) and the other fuzzy." She was 3 at the time.

Keep up the interviews!
:-)

What I love about 3 year olds is that they can be so unpredictable. Your kiddos are so cute.

Congrats on your SITS nod!

Very cute! Love the 3 wishes.

My daughter would probably ask for "Wah-ni-qua," too. The Backyardigans are the Beatles for the 2-4 year old set. I just asked my 6 1/2 year old what she would wish for if given 1 wish and her reply? "I would wish for a pumpkin pie."

Really. She is so easy to please. And even though it's scorching hot July now, pumpkie pie does sound pretty great.

OH, this is a genious idea. Very precious. Congrats on your SITs day.

You've inspired me. Kid interviews are awesome. Their random little thoughts make for great blogging fodder. Thanks for the great idea. I hope you think of it as sharing and not stealing....:)

I love Big A's answers to the three wishes questions! It makes you wonder what really goes on inside their heads, doesn't it?!?

Cute. All my son does when a camera hits him is dance.

I'll borrow one a saying that I've grown to love, "it's like herding cats". Very cute!

How cute! I love it when my 3 year old brings up random things and I have no idea what he's talking about! Lately he's been singing "Do rigi do rigi do" and we had no idea what it was until the Go Meat commercial came on and he got all excited and broke out in his special song. Apparently he takes after his mom and makes up his own lyrics.

OOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHH!!!!!!!! I LOVE the name Ashlyn. Our 1 yr old, Caleb, was to be an Ashlyn if he'd been a girl. I still practice writing it in my best cursive writing, on the fogged up glass wall of the shower. (What? doesn't everyone do that?)

Party of 5 said...

Oh what a great idea. I am nervous about interviewing my 4 yr old though. She'd probably break out in song. LOL

Happy SITS Day!

I love kid answers! They make no sense and all the sense in the world at the same time. They are so random and enjoyable. Thanks for sharing.

Too cute! Her answers were just adorable and you will be so glad you have that ten years from now when she is a teenager. Proof that she loved you guys so much! What is it with teenagers anyway?

My kids and I put together a book of 10 question interviews and got grandparents aunts uncles... it is a treasure.

Rhea said...

I love this interview, it was so fun to read it again! AND, how exciting I'm mentioned in a SITS post! Woohoo! Thanks for the shout out! hehe

Keys to the Magic Travel said...

It only took what...two months for me to do my own interview. Of course, I had to have questions written by Rhea herself to make it somewhat successful. But even then...the randomness...

What a great interview. I always love reading these kinds of posts because you never know what the kids will say. :-)

Wow. I love playing with grapes with my friends, too. So much in common.

Isn't it funny how they're memories are so short term, the only thing they can remember they like to play is what they are currently eating? Love it!

Alison said...

That's so cute. I interview my daughter every year and I love her answers. Next year my son will be three, so I can start with him, too.

My 3 year old doesn't have a sibling to hit, so she hits the cat. lol. Great post.

Ok, I don't know how it didn't dawn on me -- you have drawling toddlers! That's such a sweet sweet sound, not even counting what they're saying. I know what I mean. My communication brain has turned off for the night.

Amy said...

I am warning you now, I WILL be stealing this idea from you!

LOVE it! My youngest daughter's name is Ashlyn and she seems to have the same spirit that your younger one has. I wrote a post in which she "posted" about me. This Is Ashlyn, Don't Tell Mommy

I love how their minds work on what's immediately around them.

Wishing for the cup she already has -- precious!

I have got to admit that i am glad I have no more 3 year olds. My "baby" is 8. Of course, he is the youngest of 7, so I have had my share of 3 year olds.
