Weigh In Wednesday

Well, it's a disappointing Wednesday morning. I have to leave for work in 30 minutes, which is a bummer. And then to add insult to injury, I discovered that I've gained 3lbs since last week. Yikes. I'm down 3.2lbs overall, but this gain sucks.

However, this gain should not be remotely unexpected. I haven't exercised one little bit and my food was going ok until dinner last Saturday night and Sunday night. And I've had 2 HUGE bowls of ice cream this week. And the Reese's Peanut Butter Cups and Candy Corn that jumped into my buggy at Target a few days ago probably haven't been friendly to my hips. So, there's my list of how I managed to accomplish this feat. Now, what am I going to do about it?

Well, I've got to get back on my exercise schedule. Check.
I'm going to try the Weight Watchers point system again. Check.
I've got to practice better self control around candy. Check.

Don't beat yourself up - I've learned that never works. But you're on the right track identifying where the issues are. I have found that, while I hate doing it, if I keep a food diary and list EVERYTHING I eat for a day (no cheating), I will clean up my act the next day. There's just something about writing things down in that manner.

But never fear, when you come down this weekend we can walk after dinner Friday and Sat nights and we'll walk Sunday before you leave (or we can swim laps if it's warm enough). I need the exercise too! In fact, we can make a spa weekend out of it. Not literally since I'm broke (!) but we can eat really well and healthfully! YAY! We'll take a break from making our usual high-calorie fare and I'll see what I can find for healthier options that are still P-Dub approved, LOL!

PS do you like to eat at those Japanese places? There's a good one down the street from us that I love. And it's pretty healthy, at least healthier than BiBa's. They even do fried brown rice. Let me know!

Right there with ya...totally had a good week last week...and didn't lose an ounce. Not one little ounce. THIS is what FRUSTRATES me.

I jumped on the scale this morning and immediately put myself on a diet. I have gained 30 lbs since my husband returned from Guam in Feb. I was not a happy camper this morning.

Well, seeing as how last week's 6 lb loss was due to you puking all weekend... I'd say a 3 lb gain is not so bad!

I've been working out really good lately...mostly because I have a Nazi sister helping me out...but I don't dare to get on the scale, because I always get disappointed if I haven't lost any weight!

No worries though...it could just be water weight and that 3 lbs loss will be right off again! :)

Okay, first of all I'm going to throw blogger comments out the window if it locks up on my again!!

I wrote the most heartfelt, supportive comment EVER and it lost it. Unfortunately, I've recently suffered a short term memory ailment and I'm unable to conjure up what I wrote. The basic gist was that you can't be too hard on yourself; it sounds like you're back on track. It's hard to resist all the bags of cheap candy this time of year!!

Actually, I doubt you went up 3 pounds. That's 10,500 calories ingested more than burned which is a lot. It's likely that much of that is retained water from excess salt, etc in what you've been eating. Drink lots and lots of water!

And I know you said you'd do the WW thing, but seriously check out SparkPeople (I sound like a broken record). Actually tracking exactly what you're eating and recording it is incredibly eye opening and creates a ton of accountability.
