Wax On, Wax Off

Why is it that we go to great lengths to inflict pain on ourselves for the silliest reasons? Yesterday was one of those days where I asked myself that very question.

Back in the good old days, when I was the high powered business woman with way more free time and disposable income, I had an aesthetician on speed dial. She was awesome! The woman had the ability to make you feel at ease in the most uncomfortable of situations and she could work some magic with hot wax.

And speaking of hot wax, who in their bloody right mind thought to themselves, "Hey, this is a million dollar idea. Let's pour hot wax on the parts of our bodies that we're not thrilled with and then rip the wax (and whatever else comes along for the ride) off with strips of fabric. Brilliant!"

So, yesterday, I went to visit that old friend. She remembered me, despite the fact that it's been almost 4 years since we've seen each other. I was immediately transported to that "safe zone" again by her incessant fast talking and witty banter. And then, I let her talk me into something I thought I would never do. After it was over, I think she felt so sorry for me, that she gave me a free eyebrow wax. Thank god at least something good did come out of that experience.

Now I know what Johnny Cash was lamenting about. I really could have gone without that little nugget of knowledge.

I have never waxed. Ever. Or used epilady. Or Nads. Just me and my good old pink Daisy razor. Most mornings.

What I don't get is the brazilian wax. Shudder...

It hurts so bad, but looks so good. It's so painful being a woman. Men just don't know.

Wait a minute...What exactly did she talk you into. I think I know.

I always wax before we go on summer vacation. Tylenol before. Red wine after.

Can I have her number? LOL

Kat: Waxing is addictive. Best thing is just to never start. And I can confirm that Brazil is not even a nice place to visit. Eeek!

Heather: Amen. Men not only don't know, but they don't even care to know.

Kimba: Yes, you know. If not, see my comment to Kat above. Note to self...add tylenol and red wine to shopping list.

RPH: I'll be glad to give you her number. If you're ever in East TN, I highly recommend paying her a visit. It'll be fun! LOL.

What did she talk you into waxing? The bikini area? You're brave...I have never done that. I have done eyebrows before and it hurts!

Rhea: I took a visit to Brazil...and it wasn't a nice trip. I'll take eyebrows over that any day.
