Growing Up is Hard for Mommy to Watch

There are several turning points in a young girl's life that must be noted with much fanfare. There's the first step, the first tooth, the first word...and the first night of sleep in her full size adult bed. She's too little to be sleeping in anything larger than a crib, in my opinion, but alas, we have converted her crib into it's final state. No more day bed. No more rails to make sure she doesn't roll the 6 inches out of her bed onto the floor. No more fighting with entirely too small crib mattress sheets.

Now we're in the realm of pillow top mattresses, 500 thread count sateen sheets, and way too many pillows. But she's in heaven and that makes me smile. Upon walking into her room, the smile grew from ear to ear. She immediately climbed up on her big girl bed and proceeded to make herself at home.

Gotta check out these awesome new sheets under this beautiful new quilt.

What? You mean you're so excited that you're ready to go to bed?
Good night my sweet and silly girl!
False alarm. She's so excited that she decided to give Ailey a big sisterly hug of excitement. Watch out Ashlyn, don't choke her!
Ashlyn was so excited about her new bed that night, that we were afraid she wouldn't sleep! Thankfully, we were wrong about that. She slept like an angel!

I'm just not sure about all this growing up that she's doing. What's next? Bras and boyfriends?! Oh my, I don't think my heart can take it.

Awww...look at that pretty bed...and those *green* walls :-) And yep, bras and boyfriends won't be far behind.

Last night Madalyn was giving me a kiss good night and she asked when she could kiss a boy. I told her when she was done with college and living in a house paid for with her own money. So she says "how about tomorrow."

Thanks Kat! The walls are VERY green. We wanted bright and we got it!

That's so funny what Madalyn said! I'm not ready for those days yet. :-)

You are much more patient with the big girl beds than me. I couldn't get rid of the crib and toddler bed fast enough--too annoying to make!

Very cute room!

Thanks Julianne! I never bothered making their beds, so that wasn't a problem for me. :-) Now this new bed, it's a challenge.

Wondering how Sofia will sleep when she's not barricaded in by crib "bars" anymore. Love Ashlyn's room! See you Saturday!-Eleanor

Hi Eleanor! We thought Ailey would go hog wild and surprisingly, she won't get out of her bed unless we come into the room. Phew! We still only have to worry about 1 surprise visitor during the night, but I'm sure that will change soon. :-) See you guys Saturday!

Wait wait wait. She's just getting a big girl bed now? How old is she? How did you keep her in a crib for that long? Little Miss insisted she was done at 19 months and moved into a big girl bed (more to come on that in a post shortly actually). Lucky you!

I love the sheet! That comforter is actually really similar to the wallpaper I had when I was really little and what I wanted for Little Miss. Coudln't find them of course!

Michelle: I know I kind of skimmed over the details a bit. Her crib converted into a daybed when she turned 2 and then we converted it into the full size bed. Now my little A is kind of insistent about wanting a big girl bed. We JUST converted her crib into a daybed. I'm so not ready for her to grow up this fast! ;-)
