The Tuesday Entertainment Roundup

This last week was a rather interesting one for movies. Bear with me. because there is definitely a theme here.

Harry Potter & the Sorcerer's Stone - Yes, this was my first time seeing this movie. No, I haven't read the book. Yes, I enjoyed the movie. No, I'm not going to read the book anytime soon.

Harry Potter & the Chamber of Secrets - Since I enjoyed the first one so much, we decided to tackle the next one in the franchise. I liked this one even better than the first! I was pleased to see the special effects improve with this movie.

Harry Potter & the Prisoner of Azkaban - I heart Gary Oldman. I'm not sure why, but he's a great actor. And scary. Another great movie!

Harry Potter & the Goblet of Fire - Two words...Robert Pattinson. I big puffy heart this installment of the franchise!

Harry Potter & the Order of the Phoenix - Definitely the best of the 5 thus far. In my humble opinion, each movie has been better than the last. Hubby & I are now looking forward to seeing the newest movie which starts in theaters tomorrow!

Sleepless in Seattle - This is definitely one of the best romantic comedies of all time! I've seen it multiple times, but this particular time was nostalgic for me. I started reminiscing about seeing this movie in the theater with my grandparents who were married for 50+ years. That was a cool experience.

Mamma Mia! - I know I talked about this movie when it first came out, but it begs to be mentioned again. If you love musical comedies, SEE THIS MOVIE! If for nothing else, you must see the closing number that runs during the credits. Priceless!

August Rush - This movie was way too long. The few redeeming qualities are as follows. 1. Jonathan Rhys Meyers is nice to look at; 2. Freddie Highmore gives the only decent performance in the whole movie; 3. There's some lovely music in the movie. My overall grade is a C+.

That's it for this week! I'm still working on some books and at the moment, I'm recovering from a weekend of marathon scrapbooking. I finished 117 pages in 2 family albums this past weekend and I feel like I painted my whole house or something equally strenuous. Ridiculous. Happy Tuesday everyone and come back later this evening for my giveaway announcement!

HP3 is my favorite (so far). Probably because of Lupin... he's my favorite adult character in the books/movies.

I'll have to add "Mamma Mia!" to my queue... for the closing credits alone! Seriously. I doubt it won't be as hilarious as it was in the theater, but I'm sure it will still be funny!

I am not into Harry Potter (I am prone to bad dreams when presented with such visual stimulus.)

HOWEVER... I have been on the fence about watching Mamma Mia, only because paul and I watched it in Vegas the night before we got marrried and I LOVED it... I just think I would be critical of a movie representation of it.

I am a longtime Harry Potter fan. I read the books as they came out and have seen all of the movies. I even have a cat named Potter. You might call me a fan. I am very excited to see the new one, but we'll probably wait at least until the weekend if not next because as much as I love me some Harry, I HATE crowded movies theaters more. I'm so old.

You need to read the books. Yes, you do.

My favorite one is number three. I wish that director had continued with the series. But I cannot wait for HBP. I think that Katie and I will see it this weekend on my birthday.

And I have seen Mamma Mia on stage. And the movie does a great job with it. They are both quite hysterical.

I'm not a Harry Pottery fan. I know, I know...neither Twilight nor Harry Potter. Un-American, right?

BUT...Mamma Mia the movie was amazing. I've seen it three times. And I have the soundtrack. It's just fun.

I agree about August Rush. I really did not enjoy it and I got lost as to how she gave birth but didn't know her son was still alive. Very confused there. Maybe I wasn't paying attention well enough. But you are right Freddie was the highpoint. Just like in A Good Year with Russell Crowe. :-)

JRM was in most of the scenes so it wasn't too bad for me. I lurve him.

I never got into the whole HP thing; didn't read the books, never watched the movie.

Hmm... trying to figure out the theme... trying really hard. Ummmm. ;)

I haven't seen any of the movies, sadly. Once I read a book, I generally don't like the movie. and you can see how many movies you watch that I've seen, too!

Good to know the other few I should avoid!
