Blonde Ambition

I've spent the better part of my life blending into the crowd. I'm not much of a risk-taker when it comes to fashion or beauty. I don't wear makeup. I don't read fashion magazines. Most of my wardrobe includes pieces that are 5+ years old.
However, since I've started blogging, a part of me has emerged that is daring and wants to take a walk on the wild side every now and then. Try new things. Expand my horizons.
For months now, my IRL buddy Shannon & I have been talking about walking in Rhea's footsteps and trying something new with our hair. And so, the night before Thanksgiving, we got a wild hair (no pun intended) and headed to the salon.
Here's me before (and without any alcohol, miraculously)
And here's Shannon before (I don't think she had been drinking either, LOL)

Here I am sitting under the dryer pondering if I've just made an enormous error by telling the teenage stylist to "just do something bold"

And Shannon shows me her Daniel Craig impression

Shannon told her teenage stylist to take a little of the top. Apparently, "little" is a relative term to these people.

And so, after 2 hours in the salon, we emerged as new and daring bloggers. I looked like a zebra with brown and blonde stripes and Shannon had a shorter "do" with a few strategically placed red streaks. We have arrived.

Here's a close up of my new hair. The most interesting thing about it is that every morning, I wake up with a new set of colors on my head. This has been more of an adventure than even I expected. Note to self: Next time I decide to take on a new and daring hairstyle, spend the money and go to the very experienced stylist who demands more direction than "do what you want".

Ya know, I had noticed the new picture and then couldn't figure out if you had streaked it or if you were in the rain!! But you know me, as far as my hair goes, ANYTHING goes, black, red, blond, or brown, girl it's all fixable!!

I like the blonde highlights! I tell my stylist the same thing but I've been seeing the same one for over 3 years so she knows what I like. [:

I like it! I still say it's fun and different.

You are braver than I am! I went with red highlights rather than blonde. Blonde scares me on darker hair. I love your cut. It's really cute on you!

I am contemplating getting a whole new color...not just highlights. That might be my new years change!

And hello...why are you seeing Kat this weekend? And why wasn't I invited. I'll be pouting now. That is all.

Yay, Angie!! I'm so glad you and Shannon did this! You both look adorable. I like it.

My pink has almost completely washed out now. I need to go back and get more put in...maybe a new color? Or maybe bolder? Not sure yet, but I'm addicted to coloring now...

I like the colors. It looks very fun -- and sleek too. Sleek is good! (coming from curly haired frizzy me)
