Monday Morning Eye Candy

Sorry for the lack of eye candy for the past few weeks. I've been uninspired lately (and extremely busy), but hopefully the dry spell is now over.

First, there was Jake Ryan. Oh, how I loved Sixteen Candles and all the teen angst that it delivered. And Jake, well, SWOON! I think every teen girl of that era wanted to be Molly Ringwald, sitting on that table, enjoying that birthday cake.

And then I grew up a little and moved onto some bad boys. Jake Hanson fit the bill nicely. First he stole the heart of Kelly Taylor and then he stole mine. Jake, you bad, bad boy.

A few years after that, I was innocently working in the children's department of a store, when in walked THIS Jake. And I knew pretty early on that he would be the last Jake that stole my heart. And today, I send him big birthday wishes.

Happy Birthday Honey!

See you all next week!

Thursday Thirteen

I know I said I was going to rotate Thankful Thursday & the Thursday Thirteen, but what can I say...I'm easily distracted. So, today's Thursday Thirteen is titled as follows.

13 Reasons That I Love This Guy

1. He loves the beach. I mean LOVES the beach. And he's not afraid to be photographed building sandcastles (by himself).

2. He loves being a great dad. And he is a GREAT dad! My girls are so lucky to have him as a role model.

3. He doesn't complain one bit about all the chick t.v. that I subject him to. He sits quietly and watches Grey's Anatomy, Top Chef and Kathy Griffin without so much as a whimper.

4. He's not afraid to take risks. He steps out of his comfort zone more times than he probably realizes and comes out smelling like a rose, more often than not.

5. He tells his guy friends about my blog and actually encourages them to read it. (Hi Daniel!)

6. He is a very giving person. He tries so hard to please people and very rarely says no when something is asked of him.

7. He encourages me to go have time with my friends while he takes charge of the kids. Even if he's had a really bad day at work and it's the last thing that he wants to do. And he does it with a smile.

8. He is very handy! This week, he built a shelving unit in our bathroom. And my tomato garden is thriving! Thankfully, he's getting much better about finishing projects that he starts. :-) I think my bad habits have rubbed off on him over the years.

9. He has the most beautiful blue eyes that I've ever seen and he passed them on to our daughters. His eyes are one of the first things that I fell in love with.

10. He is very athletic and excels at every sport that he tries. Nothing makes my heart swell with pride more than seeing him being rewarded for another job well done.

11. He is incredibly humble. He doesn't like to be the center of attention, despite the fact that he's constantly doing things that are attention-worthy.

12. He is who he is and he makes no apologies for it.

13. He loves me for who I am and doesn't try to change me. No matter what the situations have brought over the years, he's always been a rock, unwavering in devotion to our marriage and I know that no matter what this life brings, he will be there to see it through.

With Father's Day coming up this Sunday, I thought this would be a great time to emphasize just how much I love my hubby for all that he is, especially, an amazing partner and father to our kids. I guess this is a Thankful Thursday after all.
