Birthday Countdown - Giveaway 3

For the scoop on why I'm going all of these giveaways, click here.

I'm doing a week of giveaways just for y'all! Each day will be a different item. I'm giving away some of my favorite things. You can enter each giveaway as many times as you want. Yep, that's right. But, you have to leave a meaningful comment. Not just "pick me, pick me!" Compliments will score you brownie points. Telling me about your favorite birthday memory is a good one. What you like to give/get for birthdays are also good. Anything that you want to tell me.

All giveaways are sponsored by yours truly. All of these birthday giveaways will end at midnight on August 19th (my actual birthday) and winners will be emailed and announced here on the 20th. Good luck and make sure you check back daily for the newest giveaway announcement.

Giveaway Day 3

Alright y'all. My Paula Deen giveaway from last month was a roaring success. I knew she had a lot of fans out there, but you guys didn't disappoint. I'm still bummed that I missed out on my opportunity to meet her and get an autographed cookbook, but I'm trying to move on. LOL! So, today's giveaway is one of favorite cookbooks from Ms. Deen! Now, go forth and let's see those comments.

I'd love to try some new recipes. I'm terrible at making dinner every night because I feel like we always have the same stuff over and over again. Maybe a new cookbook with new recipes would inspire me. Thanks so much. =0)

We had SO much fun with you guys!! Thanks again for coming to the concert with us.

And you KNOW I am all over this one. Do the comments have to be about the post/item being given?

'Cause I have bunches of comments lined up for this one, LOL! My first thought is how much fun I can have making some of Paula's recipes this fall and winter, as "heavier" foods come back into my seasonal eating preferences! YUM!

I love watching Paula. I've never tried to cook any of her recipes before, but I would love to start.

BTW - my favorite birthday memory would have to be my 21st birthday. My Mimi (grandma) took me gambling for the first time. It was just the two of us. We didn't have much money to gamble with and we lost it all, of course! :) We had such a fun day together. The drive to and from, the afternoon together... It wasn't a huge party or anything like that, but it was a great bonding experience.

Ok, ok. I actually DID pee. Just a bit. But I've had 3 kids and I'm allowed.

I wonder if you know how much fun I'm having commenting on all of these giveaways? Really, I love that you said "make it meaningful" and that we can comment as many times as we want. I may do that on my next giveaway as I always HATE the Tweet this and blog that and 1 entry here and yadda yadda yadda. I would much rather receive several long-winded comments from a lunatic like myself.

But maybe that's just me?

I remember being about 5. My mom took 4 of my friends, and all my sibs to the zoo for my birthday. I can still remember how freaked out she was when she found me in the ape house. I was outside of the cage but inside of the viewing fence sharing my popcorn with the large male gorilla. He was holding my hand ( the one that held the popcorn) while he helped me eat!

Unknown said...

Yum...I am craving some of her southern food right about now...

Teddie Ann said...

I want to win this because there isn't anything I don't love about Mrs. Deens cooking style. Definitely my very fave food network chef.

To answer your questions:

Something I love to get/give on birthdays, which is food related, is a homemade cake. Made with a bunch of the persons favorite things, like chocolate, coffee, or more exotic ingredients, like tropical fruits - things they can't get a hold of everyday.

One of my favorite birthday memories is a memory I can't actually remember. lol But it's related to what I wrote above so here goes.

It was my 1st birthday, my parents, who were young and just pulling their careers together, couldn't afford a professionally baked cake. So they made me one; it was more beautiful than anything I think they could have brought(there are lots and lots of pictures from the party). :)

P.S. I hope you have a really, really, happy birthday filled with love and tasty eats!

I just discovered your blog through this contest and I'm happy I have - I'm subscribing.

Happy Birthday! Now that I'm older, I like to get gift cards for my birthday so that I can go shopping guilt free. Funny thing is that I don't like to give gift cards because I feel like it can be impersonal. Isn't that strange?
