Wow, thanks to all of you for your feedback last week and all the wonderfully supportive ideas! Here's how the week shook out for me.
I managed to get in 1 workout. It's a start! I met with a personal trainer for an hour and while she was great, I need a Jillian Michaels type to really get my rear in gear. My PT put a program together for me and I'm officially heading in the right direction.
I started a food diary and it's forcing me to examine how much food I'm really taking in. And really, it's not so much the volume as the types of food. I love my desserts!
Now, for the weight loss. Yeah, not only did I not lose a pound, I actually gained a whole pound. (Sigh) This week is going to be a better week. I just know it!
And now for the thing that I promised myself I would do. I'm actually going to disclose here in black & white, the awful number that I saw on the scale this morning. Because every journey begins with the first step and I really think that saying this out loud is the serious first step that I need to get my ass in high gear. The number this morning was 219.2. Phew. That was a lot harder than ripping off a band-aid. My heart is still pounding. Let's move on before I have a full blown panic attack.
Goals for this week:
1) Get in at least 3 workouts
2) Write everyday in my food journal
3) Join Sparkpeople
4) Lose 2 lbs
So, how are things going for you guys? What goals do you have this week/month?

I am so happy for you, Angie, as you start on this journey. Kudos for wanting to work out, control your diet and feel healthier, without resorting immediately to surgical intervention. You wouldn't believe the stories I could tell about women GAINING weight on purpose to qualify for gastric bypass, then dying from complications and leaving behind two small children...so freakin' sad. I am always inspired by women like you who have the right attitude. It will be hard, it will take a lot of work, but it will be so worth it! You go, girl!
Ok well don't feel bad about your weight bc you are a WAY ahead of me in that dept....
But don't worry about gaining a pound, it happens!
As for my update, well the no carb thing is killing me, but I have to get through this week. Once I do, then I will be better.
I will keep you posted on the weight loss. One good thing is I did NOT gain all that I had lost with WW, so I don't have to start from square one.
Keep it up!
You go baby! You CAN do this. You WILL do this. I know it!
One thing I can promise, and after experiencing it myself, I feel confident saying it to you as well. If you can get in three JM workouts in the next 7 days (be sure to take at least one day between each, and probably two between the first two), I hereby PROMISE you will lose that 2 pounds. I am telling you, it is the most butt-kicking workout I have ever seen, and the best part is, it only lasts 20 minutes. 20 minutes of nightmare, sure, but 20 minutes and you CAN do it. Try it! I'll even promise to do it with you. Starting today! You in? ;-)
Go for it, Angie -- and really get into the SparkPeople thing. It's such a huge help in just about every aspect. So educational. And the 1 pound? Your weight completely fluctuates depending on what you just ate, so don't fret it. Just do what you can do and be proud!
And the Jillian Michaels workout Angela mentioned? I've heard more people talk about how great it is... I'm almost ready to go out tonight and buy it myself. If I can find one of the $9.99 places vs the $14.99 ones ;)
I am so proud of your bravery Angie!! Just think of how fun your first weight loss post will be!
You are well on your way. I think I have lost 7 pounds over the last three weeks. It is so frustrating because I know I could gain that by tomorrow :-) But at least the numbers are going down. I have got to get myself motivated to exercise. Sometime.
And I just remembered that I totally forgot to thank you for my beautiful pendant that arrived today. It's gorgeous -- and so light. I was expecting it to be heavier, but it's great that I can forget I'm wearing it!
You are so brave! Just take baby steps and you'll get there.
Hi Angie! My name is Mary and I just thought I would introduce myself (one as a new follower and two as a Sitsta in the weight loss journey too). Ahh, I feel your pain. Hang in there it will get better! A couple of suggestions that people have offered me is to sneak in workouts when you can. A few extra trips up the stairs, parking farther away for the extra walking and actually to fidget more. Burns more calories. And 5 minutes here and there will definitely add up. I am trying to work up my motivation full steam ahead for my wedding next year. But I have always been a last minute person. Not to best work ethic when it comes to weight loss. Hopefully some of other people's words of wisdom might help you! Good Luck this week!!! :)
Sorry, I don't know why my profile isn't working. I am a blogging newbie and I am still trying to figure all of this out. You can find me at: www.thatdesigngal.blogspot.com
