In my (seemingly never ending) quest to eliminate all this extra mass that I've accumulated over the last 15 years, I have set out on another weight loss adventure. (cue the groans) Yeah, yeah, I know, same story, different month.
ANYWAY, I've decided to try & tap into a motivation that seemed to work for me last year. Actually, this motive has proven to be the most successful for me so far in all my years of dieting. And that motivation is: MONEY.
My dad blessed with me a membership to a really great gym in my town that has state of the art equipment and a yoga studio, which I'm the most excited about! But I knew that alone was not going to be enough to get me in the mindset of losing some weight. So, I'm doing a "biggest loser" competition with myself. I'm putting money in the pot every week when I weigh in and I'm trying to figure out a financial penalty/reward system that will help keep me on track.
Do my peeps out there have any suggestions?
In the meantime, here are my goals for the next 7 days.
1. Work out at least 3 times
2. Start a food journal
3. Lose 1lb
Bonus Task: Get up enough courage to actually post my weight here next week. Come on Angie, you can do it!
So, for any of you out there who are struggling with diet & exercise issues, tell me what is and isn't working for you. Let's support each other! And tune in next Thursday to see my results.

Ya know, I'll join ya on this. I'll post on Thursday also my weight. I have always had luck with exercise videos at home and I got a new pilates dvd I've been wanting to take out of the wrapper. The biggest thing to work for me is accountability. So I'll be accountable to you to stay on track and feel free to call me down if I fall off. My nephew is getting married in August and I would love to lose 20 by then but 15 will do also. This will be the first time I will have seen my family in years and in fact NO ONE in my family has seen Shea. So I would like to feel a little better about my presentation!! You game??
Ok I don't have enough guts to post my weight, but I am struggling right now. Hubby is on the Cheat to Lose diet idea and we are starting that next week, so I will let you know who I am doing.
It's so hard. I have been trying to go to the gym at lunch, but I have been sick off and on for 3 weeks and I am NOT able to keep a steady pace.
I started Weight Watchers two and a half weeks ago. I am so hungry. But then I realized that I am not hungry when I am busy. And just sitting and reading - my favorite thing to do - well, that is when I want to eat. Exercise is my downfall. Walking kills my heels...and I am too lazy to take myself over to swim...and the kids complicate things. But...I am following the plan.
There is no freakin way I will post my weight. I even made Michael leave the room when they asked me my weight when I was having my babies :-)
Soooo....
does this mean you might actually eat the veggies tonight @ dinner?! ;)
see ya in a few...
sparkpeople.com -- free, supportive, educational, great food journaling, great exercise journaling... it worked :)
And financial penalty means you buy an annoying toy for the kids that they want that you DON'T want them to have if you don't do what you're supposed to? (Or donate to a charity but to me that's not a real penalty?) And not to be stuck on a theme, but Spark has some great ideas for rewards and goal setting....
I have no suggestions because my exercise routine is still imaginary. I wish you all the best, though!
I got nothing but love for you and my undying support.
I have a suggestion! I love a podcast called "Fat2Fit Radio". You can find it on iTunes or you can get it off their website (I think it's fat2fitradio.com, ha!) but they keep it real. It's not super fit and ripped people trying to tell you what to do, it's people who are also working to lose weight talking about all sorts of weight lossy things. One of my favorite things they say is that it's not about dieting, it's about making a lifestyle change. What they say makes sense. Maybe it'll heolp out for you, too!
us girls we have to hit that gym together soon!
I am so proud of you! I have two ideas for you - first, you need to try this Jillian Michaels routine I've been doing. Granted, I'm off the wagon the last two weeks because of being sick and then the travel craziness last week, but it is ONLY 20 minutes at a time, so pretty easy to talk yourself into. It has really been working for me and I am excited to get back into this week!
Also - maybe you could start saving your "winnings" for our girls' weekend in Miami! That, plus the whole beach angle, would give you a concrete goal for the next couple months!
You CAN do it! I love ya!
