Last weekend, I had the opportunity to check out the largest privately owned home in America.
Welcome to The Biltmore!
Welcome to The Biltmore!
And being a Biltmore virgin, I had to take a couple of more experienced ladies along for the ride. As you can see, they were all too happy to oblige.
Smile, Lizzy & Shannon!
Smile, Lizzy & Shannon!
After a REALLY great lunch at the Stable Cafe (yes that was a former horse stall that we were eating in), we made our way to the house. Check out this view.
And here's the part where I would've shown you the amazing interiors of this mansion. Except, that Biltmore doesn't allow ANY photography inside the building. Trust me, it was amazing!
After spending a lot of time in the house, we ventured outside into the rainy mist and decided to get in our cars and drive to the winery. You know, because nothing ends a great day with friends like getting sloshed at a wine "tasting"!
On the way, we saw a couple that just got married. I just love weddings. In gardens. With spring flowers blooming all around.
And then we saw something that I really loved. There were Canadian Geese all over the grounds, but here, we came across what appeared to be a little family. Complete with goslings. Adorable!
All in all, we had a great time despite the fact that we were missing friends who couldn't come and the weather was kind of "bleh" for the entire day. We had a lot of laughs and Shannon reminded us that at the end of the day, we're all in this thing together.

I love Biltmore. My cousin was married there...and it is a gorgeous place to have a wedding. Michael and I spent the weekend there for our first anniversary. So beautiful. We took this behind the scenes tour that was really cool. I wish I could have tagged along!!
We did have a fab time, didn't we?
And your pics turned out great... well, except for the ones that include me...
We will make another trek to Biltmore.
Oh, yes... we will.
Looks like y'all had a blast! What a beautiful area. Hope you have a great weekend!
It is a shame, as close as I used to live to the Biltmore I never got around to seeing it. My parents have been there a few times though.
I had the chance to see the Biltmore as a child. It was so big!
Glad you had a good time! :)
Looks like a great time:-)Beautiful property!
I love the Biltmore house!!!!! I LOVE the stable cafe! It's awesome!!!! I am dying to go back. We're thinking a trip in the fall. And they are so dog friendly - you can take your dog anywhere on the grounds, as long as they are on leash.
Ok I'm satisfied now. Shannon just gave me one picture and a paragraph. Yours is so much better. (don't tell her I said that) lol.
Next time I am so going.
So much fun!!! I am so jealous!! I need to take the kid up there and photograph them! We missed you on Saturday but you had lots more fun.
Ooooh...lovely! What a unique restaurant!
Enjoyed your post. I love the Biltmore House - it is so beautiful and the grounds are lovely. I enjoyed the winery, too! That completed the day. The first time around we toured the house, gardens and winery. The second time I took my mom & her friend, along with my daughter - we took the Behind the Scenes tour. It was well worth the cost.
Your pictures tuned out great. We bought a book and some post cards.
Oh please tell me she got that pillow!!
Sigh.... it looks so fun.
I think that pillow belongs in my house;)
Thanks so much for stopping by my blog and following me too! So nice to have you in our "Frugal" home! Now I need to come up with a way to travel as you do but in my frugal fashion that I've been accustomed too! hehe. I'm following you now too!
Sniff-Sniff...
I wasn't there.
Darn my "issues."
Love Shannon's pillow. Love you getting "sloshed." Hate Biltmore for not letting people take pics up in there. That's lame.
Booooo :( tears streaming down my face to induce a guilt trip...I can't believe you were sooooo close and didn't let me know!
Sounds like a lot of fun... and I sure hope that pillow came home with you! :)
I love the pictures of the grounds. What a neat place to get married.
