The Tuesday Entertainment Roundup

This last week was a slow week. Not much new on t.v. and I just didn't have much time for movies. Here are the few things worth noting.

Nurse Jackie - Edie Falco has made her way back to Showtime in this hilarious dark comedy about a drug addicted charge nurse who has got a whole bevy of problems in her home and work lives. Smart writing and a great cast! Hubby & I are both enjoying this new series!

Top Chef Masters - I can't explain why I love Top Chef so much, but I do. And this installment is putting some famous chefs on the hook to raise money for charity. Love it!

Harry Potter & the Half Blood Prince - I must say, as someone who hasn't read the books, I think I'm enjoying these movies more than the people who are comparing the two. And it's unusual, because I normally do read the books prior to seeing the movies. That aside, I must say that this was the first HP movie that I saw in the theater and frankly, this is place to see them! I really enjoyed the movie and now have vowed to go back and read ALL the books in preparation for the final 2 films to be released starting next year. Heaven knows it will take me that long to read all 7 books.

I swear, I feel like I'm never going to finish these 2 books that I've been working on for weeks now. And Netflix is officially sending me a thank you card for completely under-utilizing my membership this month. Sigh. Next week should have a whole lot more to report. Have a great Tuesday!

Okay, while shallow and meaningless, I am loving the new show Dating in the Dark. You seen this one? People have to literally date in the dark. They get to know each other completely based on compatibility and not on looks. It was so cool.
Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives makes me super hungry, but I luv it.

I'm enjoying the new season of Big Brother & of course True Blood. As for movies we watched 3 scary movies this weekend - The Haunting, The Unborn & Horsemen (I think). Truth is I fell asleep during two of them so I only watched The Haunting. LOL!

I agree that HP movies are best seen in theaters. Me and hubby have read all the books and have a tradition of seeing the movies on opening night. We were so disappointed when HP 6 was moved from the regular Thanksgiving weekend release date, but it turned out okay since the new premier date was our wedding anniversary. We just made it a date night. It was the best of the movie series so far. I don't bother comparing the book to the movie. there is no way they can cover all that narrative on film. I think the screenplay stands on its own.

The HP books are a very quick read. I made it through the first three in a weekend. You'll definitely be able to finish them before the next movie comes out. I haven't seen this one yet, but I am dying to. I love all things HP. Hello, cat named Potter here! The theater is absolutely the place.

Cara is right, the first three HP books you will BREEZE through. And then all of a sudden they become really long. But soooo wonderful.

We like Nurse Jackie, too.

And what books are you struggling with??

I saw it in the theater (always with my mother-in-law) very good; now I have to read them all again. Maybe before the next flim??
I think one is "New Moon"; gotta say that's not my favorite, but I didn't struggle--just drooled less.

I was talking to a friend of mine today who saw it in the theater after not having read the books and loved it. I'm one who rarely can enjoy the movie after I've read the book... but at this rate, I won't ever see another movie again and will instead live vicariously through you!
