I am perfectly fine with my daughter lifting her shirt and nursing her dolls. In fact, I prefer it. But then again, I also don't but the ones that really burp and really pee and you really feed. I like the imagination part. I'm with Carabee that it's the sucking and the top part that I don't like. Imagination is fine and play with it the way you will there. The sucking... just a little too much for me.

And yes, I breastfed both of mine, and Little Miss has pretended to do the same. Pretended being the part I'm comfortable with.Michellehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07803503583347758969noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3290395341073889101.post-37510097922911561042009-08-16T00:49:29.942-04:002009-08-16T00:49:29.942-04:00I haven't quite settled on an emotion for this...I haven't quite settled on an emotion for this one yet. On the one side, I think it's great to open up the discussion about breastfeeding with little girls (and boys), it is not sexual or dirty. On the other side, I think the halter and sucking noises go a little too far.CaraBeehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04614627167922944626noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3290395341073889101.post-45143337329529822852009-08-15T09:52:50.387-04:002009-08-15T09:52:50.387-04:00I think it's downright weird. But strange? Yep. I would call it that. My girls have never been into dolls. But when I was pregnant with Madalyn, Katie was all about tucking stuffed animals under her shirt. And my mom has pictures of me nursing my dolls after she had my brother. But any doll could accomplish this pretend play. The sucking noise the baby makes is kinda where it crosses the line for me....Keys to the Magic Travelhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15634829064005032831noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3290395341073889101.post-36847948172949116192009-08-14T10:04:59.944-04:002009-08-14T10:04:59.944-04:00OH. This one ranks right up there with the thong underwear Abercrombie was making (still makes?) for 5 year olds a few years ago. GRRRRRRR!!!! It is one thing if a child does this on their own, imitating a parent, but to make a doll that actually makes sucking sounds, and a top your child can untie?Angelahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17438793762929989131noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3290395341073889101.post-21591882780936947232009-08-14T07:56:14.665-04:002009-08-14T07:56:14.665-04:00OMG I am that Mom that everyone hates!! OK...I ne...OMG I am that Mom that everyone hates!! OK...I never used bottles with my girls (well Emma a little but I was more of a nurse to cup kind of Mom). Emma on her own has nursed her babies dolls every since she saw me nursing Ellie. I never discouraged it because I don't see anything shameful in feeding your baby the way God intended. I know that for a variety of reasons nursing doesn't work out for people and I am fine with that, but for me it was very important. I am not sure that I would feel as comfortable with my elementary aged daughter doing it and I certainly wouldn't want her doing it in the middle of McDonald's. However in our home in the privacy of her playroom she is welcome to nurse her baby dolls and various other stuffed animals. Often times she would nurse with her belly button it was quite a sight to see. She actually has gotten cued into that breast make the milk recently. All mammals nurse their babies and I just think it is natural not shameful process. She never once saw Ellie take a bottle, so how could I say to her babies take bottles??? She does have hundreds of babies with coordinating bottles that she gives them b/c really it is just like giving them a cup. I also explain quite clearly that when babies grow up which around here is age 1, they don't nurse anymore they drink out of a cup just like me and you. I just suppose I am so pro-breastfeeding that this toys does not bother me at all. When comes do the bottom line I don't find a nursing baby any more offensive than of those babies that makes green s***. (You know baby poops a lot or whatever you call it.) (On a side note I don't really like the idea of it actually suckling I don't think stimulating a child's nipple is appropriate. She doesn't need to feel it "nursing" it is pretend right?)

I hope you all don't hate me too much.Dianahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14785864195807387591noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3290395341073889101.post-27076161992274277042009-08-14T02:00:59.178-04:002009-08-14T02:00:59.178-04:00uh no way!! I actually had to go google it to read more & I found an article where a lady was saying it provided "healthy play" and that grown-ups needed to grow up. Umm, I think kids were just fine feeding the dolls with bottles thank you very much!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3290395341073889101.post-92044106621858101442009-08-14T00:47:05.493-04:002009-08-14T00:47:05.493-04:00Nope, don't like it ONE BIT!Nope, don't like it ONE BIT!MamabearMillshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00022605208477470926noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3290395341073889101.post-64543754500169554162009-08-14T00:28:26.009-04:002009-08-14T00:28:26.009-04:00I'm freakin' out...........I'm freakin' out...........Jane In The Junglehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08936518391049202659noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3290395341073889101.post-73033845096861054312009-08-14T00:22:59.051-04:002009-08-14T00:22:59.051-04:00Oh, HAIL no.
